Nursing a Nation

An Anthology of African and Caribbean Contributions to Britain's Health Services
Compiled by Jak Beula

Nursing a Nation is a unique and timely collection that chronicles the historic and ongoing roles played by dedicated professionals from the Africa and the Caribbean within Britain's healthcare systems, from before the inception of the National Health Service (NHS), through its evolution and the challenges of decades of improvement, to today's continuing essential frontline work.

Conceived and compiled by Jak Beula as a companion piece to the landmark memorial statue he designed honouring Windrush & Commonwealth NHS Nurses and Midwives, positioned outside Whittington Hospital in North London in September 2021, Nursing a Nation was shaped with a Nubian Jak editorial team, working with nurses and doctors, campaigners and scholars. This is the second Nubian Jak commemorative anthology, the first being Remembered: In Memoriam, published in conjunction with the 2017 unveiling of the African and Caribbean War Memorial in Windrush Square, Brixton, London, also designed by Dr Jak Beula.

The book is only available on line and retails for £29.99 plus £4.99 Postage and Packaging.
